Orangeville, ON April 6th — Dufferin Media launches a new initiative aimed to bring Web Accessibility to the mainstream.
Dufferin Media is creating a new division that will focus on nonprofit organizations called Dufferin Media Cares. This division will provide digital marketing services to charities at favourable rates. In addition, there will be a membership program that will allow key players in the nonprofit industry to network, collaborate, and learn. Perhaps the most exciting initiative being launched with Dufferin Media Cares is the plan to help all nonprofit organizations, regardless of size, make their website and social media fully accessible to all.
The team at Dufferin Media believes that we ALL have a part to play in making the web an inclusive place for everyone.
Worldwide, there are about 1.3 billion people with disabilities. 71% of customers with accessibility needs will click away from a website they find difficult to use. 22% of Canadians aged 15 or older are living with at least one disability that affects accessibility. If a business or nonprofit organization continues to ignore web accessibility considerations, it’s clear that they are missing out on reaching a very large percentage of the population.
In response to our initiative, Dufferin Media has appointed an Accessibility Officer who has become certified in Global Web Accessibility Standards, and by May 2021, we commit to certifying every single Dufferin Media team member.

Besides the fact that making the web a more inclusive space is the right thing to do, in the Province of Ontario, all public, private and nonprofit organizations with 50 employees or more will need to make their public website compliant under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) by the deadline of June 30, 2021. Legislation like this is being enacted in Governments all over the World.
Dufferin Media will soon offer Accessibility Audits, Consulting, and solutions for businesses and nonprofits to become Accessibility Compliant.
